Botox is an injectable neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and slow new ones from forming. (1) Minimally invasive, patients turn to Botox for its customizable, youth-restoring properties and ability to become part of their regular beauty routine.
Fillers contain naturally occurring compounds, including hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite, to boost collagen and add natural-looking volume to the skin. They can lift, shape, and improve contours caused by weight loss or aging, also known as the Ozempic Face. Wrinkles and facial changes caused by loss of volume and sagging skin can occur naturally, and patients taking GLP medications such as Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Ozempic.
Both Botox and fillers are popular treatments for managing the visible effects of aging and provide appealing benefits for patients who wish to enhance their appearance without the implications of surgery. Botox and fillers have evolved to be for so much more than just replacing volume and treating wrinkles. With neuromodulators such as Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify evolving to sculpt and shape, the strategic placement of the injectable can lift and adjust areas like the brows, the jawline, and the eyes.
Understanding your facial anatomy allows our providers to enhance your natural features. HA fillers such as Juvederm, RHA, and Restylane can be used to add targeted volume that shapes and sculpts the face and body. Precisely placing the fillers can give the face a rejuvenated and refreshed appearance.

About Botox
Botox restricts underlying facial muscles and blocks nerve signals that cause muscle contractions and wrinkles. Because Botox addresses the muscles responsible for facial expression, it can also serve as a preventative treatment that effectively minimizes future lines from forming. Botox works best on dynamic wrinkles, or expression lines that stem from active, repeated facial movements such as smiling and frowning.
The forehead and space between the eyebrows are active expression areas on the face, thus making them common spots for wrinkles to form. Botox is a common treatment for glabellar lines and forehead wrinkles, (2) effectively reducing their accentuation and dulling targeted muscle activity to prevent future lines from forming.
Botox has evolved from a way to treat fine lines and wrinkles to a modern way to shape and sculpt the face. Strategic placement of Botox can lift and shape the brows, lifting them and opening the eyes. It can also be used to shape the jawline with strategic injections in the masseter to slim the jawline. These are just a few examples of the shaping possible when the injector has an understanding of the underlying anatomy and the aesthetic goals.
About Fillers
On the other hand, fillers can rejuvenate and sculpt. It is not about adding volume to the face overall. The days of overfilling patients are in the past. Modern facial rejuvenation is about strategic enhancement and targeted filling. The precise placement of these fillers can enhance and improve the overall shape. Facial filler use has expanded as we no longer only treat facial aging; we treat patients who have been on a weight loss journey.
GLP medications have been incredibly impactful in so many patients’ lives. They have improved their overall health and well-being. Patients can feel incredible as a result, but often see deflation and dermal thinning, and possibly signs of premature aging due to the rapid weight loss. The proactive and strategic treatment of what is colloquially named ‘Ozempic face’ with targeted fillers, biostimulants, and energy devices can help minimize the effects of medication-driven rapid weight loss. Ozempic face can result in thinning, sagging, or facial descent. Modern fillers can be tailored to individual issues and aesthetic goals. Fillers were originally and still are used to treat wrinkles and fine lines, but they have become so much more. Modern facial rejuvenation with fillers is about sculpting, shaping, and rejuvenating. We have taken a restorative approach that creates a total facial balance.
Treating the Under-Eyes
The under-eye area is particularly sensitive to the effects of aging, including thinning or crepe-like skin, crow’s feet, and loose skin. Patients will also develop dynamic wrinkles around the eyes. People can often see bags around the lower eyelids as well. Weight loss and aging can accentuate the visibility of these bags, but young patients can have visible bags under the eyes due to factors like genetics. Treating the areas around the eyes is challenging and subtle, but it is one of the purest artistic treatments in plastic surgery. When executed properly, it makes people look better, but no one knows what was done—it’s our little secret treatment.
Under-eye filler is popularly referred to as non-surgical blepharoplasty. As a minimally invasive alternative for under-eye rejuvenation, patients frequently receive hyaluronic acid-based fillers such as RHA – Redensity, or Restylane Eye, to soften lines, improve under-eye contour, and restore fullness for a more rested, youthful appearance. The results are immediate, with minimal downtime compared to surgical options. (3)
The Best Treatment for Forehead Lines and Under-Eyes
Treatment around the eyes typically requires a combination of treatments, including Botox, fillers, and regenerative treatments. Filling the lower eyelids to conceal the bags must be done with precision. Some patients benefit from a blepharoplasty of the upper and lower eyelids. Then the dynamic lines can be treated with Botox. These effects can transform a tired, mature appearance to a rested, rejuvenated appearance.
Choosing the treatment that directly targets the factors that cause your specific aesthetic concerns will lead to more visible and lasting results. Consider the issues you wish to address: wrinkles and fine lines, sagging skin, loss of volume, or a combination, which tends to give a more natural and aesthetic appearance.
Benefits
The common benefit that Botox and fillers share is their ability to create a more youthful, naturally healthy appearance. Patients can enjoy a rejuvenated, sculpted, and aesthetically modern appearance with these rejuvenating aesthetic techniques. Confidence is the best contour!
Candidates for Botox and Fillers
Potential candidates for both treatments will be individuals in overall good health who wish to non-surgically achieve a smoother, more rested, and youthful appearance. Patients should have realistic expectations about what Botox and fillers can achieve and be able to work closely with our expert injectors to develop a treatment plan that aligns with underlying facial anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Preparation
As with many of our non-surgical aesthetic treatments, the preparation is minimal and straightforward.
- Suspend use of any blood-thinning medications or supplements
- Abstain from nicotine and alcohol consumption
- Avoid direct sun exposure
- Refrain from applying retinoids or any harsh or exfoliating skin treatments on your face
Our team can recommend gentle skincare products to use before and after treatment to help support optimal results.
Procedure
On the day of your treatment, we will cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing ointment if necessary. Your master injector will treat, sculpt, and shape your face using modern techniques. With Botox, the neuromodulator will be injected precisely at specific points that will shape your brows, smooth your forehead, and soften dynamic wrinkles. For filler treatments, the hyaluronic acid-based fillers will be injected into areas that will benefit from volume enhancement. Our team will guide you to help determine if you are better served with a non-surgical under-eye treatment with fillers or if surgical treatments, such as a lower blepharoplasty, would be a better option. Once the face is sculpted and shaped, the filler can be gently massaged into the area to settle seamlessly into surrounding contours for a supple, natural-looking result.
Depending on the size and complexity of the treatment area and which, if any, corresponding treatments you choose to include, the whole session takes around 30 minutes.
Recovery
There is virtually no downtime, and you will be able to go about the rest of your day directly. You may experience temporary swelling or bruising, but it will fade within a day or two. To support your recovery, we recommend that you avoid rubbing or massaging the injection sites, refrain from strenuous activity, rest with your head and shoulders elevated, and avoid direct sun for 24 hours.
Results
Botox treatment may start to become visible after a couple of days, but the full effects will become apparent at about two weeks. However, because Botox decreases the dynamic lines, patients continue to improve for months. Patients with deep lines may need serial treatments and/or combination treatments to completely resolve the fine lines and wrinkles. You will notice a fading in the appearance of lines and wrinkles where the treatment was administered, with some areas smoothing out entirely. The effects of Botox typically last 3-4 months, at which point most patients continue to maintain and improve their results.
The effects of filler injection will be immediately apparent after your treatment, but swelling or bruising may be visible for a couple of days. Your under-eyes will appear smoother and more supple, giving you a more rested, vibrant appearance. These results typically last about 9 -16 months, depending on the specific product used during your treatment.

FAQ
Are Botox and fillers safe?
Yes, when administered by skilled and qualified healthcare professionals, they are extremely safe.
Can I get both treatments at the same time?
Yes! If the skin concerns you wish to address could benefit from two different treatment methods, they can both be administered during the same session. This is very common.
Why does Botox work better on active expression lines than filler?
The botulinum toxin that is the main ingredient in Botox is able to temporarily paralyze the expressive muscles that cause wrinkles, whereas HA fillers like Juvéderm, Restylane, or RHA are best applied to create volume in deep lines and hollow areas.
