Blepharoplasty San Antonio, TX

If you have noticed that you look chronically tired, with sagging, drooping eyelids, puffiness, under-eye bags, wrinkles, fine lines, and folds around your eyes, you may be the ideal candidate for blepharoplasty. More commonly known as eyelid surgery, this procedure can dramatically enhance, restore, and rejuvenate the appearance and aesthetic of your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.

At our clinic, we offer blepharoplasty in San Antonio for patients who want to refresh the appearance of their eyes by eliminating wrinkles, puffiness, under-eye bags, and noticeable sagging around the eyelids. We will work with you to develop a completely customized and comprehensive facial plastic surgery plan based on your medical and aesthetic needs.

Before and After Photos

Ideal Candidate

It can be discouraging if you feel that your eyes make you look tired, old, or chronically fatigued due to the appearance of puffiness or bags underneath your eyes and excess skin on the lower lids. Many of our patients also experience sagging eyelids because of genetics or aging. Problems in the eyelid area are not only cosmetic issues. They can also lead to impaired vision.

During your initial consultation, our San Antonio team will assess the condition of your eyelids while reviewing your medical history to determine if you are a good candidate for blepharoplasty. We will:

  • Take your medical history
  • Review the entire blepharoplasty procedure from start to finish
  • Ensure that your personalized treatment plan will address your needs and goals.
  • Review the risks, downtime, and recovery of blepharoplasty
  • Recommend lifestyle changes such as eliminating smoking, nicotine products, recreational drug use, drinking, aspirin, or blood thinners before the procedure

If you are not a candidate for blepharoplasty, we may recommend one of our highly effective non-surgical procedures instead.

Procedure

Depending on your needs, our plastic surgeons in San Antonio will perform blepharoplasty on your upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or both.

Upper Eyelid

Most incisions will be carefully hidden in the crease. The eyelids heal better than almost any other place on the face or body, so the incisions fade exceptionally well and are difficult to see. They will remove loose muscle tissue, excess, sagging skin, and excess fat, giving the eyelid a smooth and lifted appearance.

Lower Eyelid

Your surgeon makes concealed incisions along the lower line, on either or both the smile crease and lash lines. They create a smooth, contoured, and aesthetically pleasing under-eye area by removing excess, sagging skin, fat, and tissue. In some cases, the incisions are made on the inside of the eyelid if all that is required is the reduction or reshaping of the fat pads and lower lids.

Recovery

We always recommend that our clients have a trusted friend or family member drive them home, as you will not be cleared to drive after your blepharoplasty. Rest and relaxation are critical to an optimal recovery. You can expect to use your eyes normally, including reading, watching television, or using electronic devices, approximately two to three days following your blepharoplasty procedure. Most of our patients will be able to return to their normal activities after the two-week mark.

Your results will reveal themselves gradually over a couple of months, with the full effects of your blepharoplasty surgery in San Antonio visible around the three-month mark.
