What implant size is best for me?
Deciding on which implant to use is always a difficult decision for women. The benefit is that in this day and age is that there are so many choices of implants that the augmentation can be tailored to each patient.

Truly the best thing that you can do is be open with your surgeon about your desired results so they can help guide you in choosing the best implant for you. Also, bring your surgeon pictures of what you want to look like after your procedure. This will make sure that you and your surgeon are on the same page about your implant desires.

Taking the time to try on implants is important so that you can make an educated decision. When you come in for your consultation, you will have time to try on a variety of implants. In my office, I use a Mentor Sizing System that allows the patient to try on a variety of implants with a bra and tank top so that they get a realistic feel and look at what their result will be after their breast augmentation. I will use this to help guide you into picking the correct implant for you. I always tell patients you look a touch smaller in your final result than you do when you are trying on implants. If you are between two sizes I usually encourage patients to go with the bigger size.

Once you have decided on the volume (size) implant that you like, I will use your body measurements to help guide you to what implant will fit your body best and help you achieve your aesthetic goals for your breasts.

The new silicone implants have allowed patients to achieve the fullness they desire without the overly round fake appearance that the saline implants can give patients. The silicone implants also give women a much more natural feel to their breasts.

It is important to see your board certified plastic surgeon to help guide you to an implant that will give you an aesthetically pleasing breast.

How do I Decide What Breast Implant Profile is Best for Me?

Patients now have a variety of implants to choose from for their breast augmentation. There is a wide range of sizes, shapes, profiles and textures in regards to breast implants. All of these different breast implants have advantages and cons depending on the specific situation.

When talking about breast implant profiles it refers to the height of the implant compared to the base with of the implant. The higher the profile the more projection the implant will have for a given breast implant size. This is really important in two aspects. One with this range of various implant profiles and sizes your plastic surgeon can find an implant that is close to the same width as your current breast. This will help you achieve a breast augmentation that will give you medial fullness with out being too wide. The second factor with the profile of the implant is patients can control the projection or “look” that they are trying to achieve. The higher the profile implant the more fullness a patient will have for any given volume of breast implant.

It is really important to talk to your plastic surgeon about your breast implant choices. Express your desired results and let him guide you on what implant will help you achieve those aesthetic goals. There is no one-profile implant that is right for every single person. It varies depending on the patient’s body frame and aesthetic goals.
