How Does QWO Work?
QWO works by using two naturally occurring enzymes to target type 1 and type 3 collagen. These types of collagen are responsible for the thick fibrous bands that attach to the skin, pulling sections of skin downward. This is what creates dimples, or cellulite, on the surface of the skin. When injected, QWO softens the bands, causing the skin to release and appear smoother.
How Long Does QWO Treatment Take?
Most patients can expect their QWO treatment to last about 30 minutes. Much like other injectable treatments, QWO is performed in office. This allows patients to return to their daily activities shortly after the treatment. For optimal results, we recommend three QWO treatments—one every three weeks.
Who is a Good Candidate for QWO?
You may be a good candidate for QWO cellulite treatment if you:
- Have good skin tone
- Have distinct cellulite dimples in the buttocks or thighs
- Are in good physical and emotional health
- Have realistic expectations for the results of your QWO cellulite treatment
- Want to improve the overall appearance of your buttock and thighs by reducing cellulite
In general, patients with good skin tone that have a limited amount of cellulite dimples in the buttocks tend to be good candidates for QWO treatment. While QWO cannot completely remove cellulite dimples, it can drastically reduce their appearance in just a few treatments.
What to Expect at Your QWO Consultation
When you enter our office, you will be introduced to Dr. Franco and his dedicated staff. During your consultation, Dr. Franco will gather your medical history and conduct a physical exam to decide the best treatment for your needs. This could include a single treatment or a combination of different procedures.
If you are interested in QWO treatment, Dr. Franco will discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure and help determine if you are a good candidate. While QWO cannot be used to treat skin laxity, it can help treat any cellulite dimples you have around the buttocks or thighs.
About the QWO Procedure
The QWO procedure is performed in our office after your initial consultation. First, Dr. Franco will mark out the location of each cellulite dimple to be treated. Next, he injects a carefully measured amount of the QWO solution into each dimple. Generally, the procedure takes around 30 minutes to complete.
After the treatment, patients may have some bruising and swelling, but they can return to work the same day if desired. To achieve the best results, Dr. Franco recommends that patients have three QWO treatments three weeks apart.
Can QWO Be Done in Combination With Other Procedures?
QWO cellulite treatment is often discussed in combination with butt augmentation procedures, such as the Brazilian Butt Lift. The concept of treating patients with cellulite prior to their Brazilian Butt Lift is an interesting new frontier in plastic surgery. Through exploring the possibilities of this new product, we have found that patients need to be treated for cellulite at least three weeks prior to any fat transfer procedures or six weeks after a Brazilian Butt Lift.
