I’m Considering Getting Butt Implants and Fat Transfer From My Waist, Hips, Flanks and Abdomen. What are the Risks?
There are two options for butt augmentation as you allude to in your questions. The first is fat transfer also know as the Brazilian Butt Lift, the second is butt implants. Some patients benefit from a combination of fat transfer and butt implants.
The Brazilian Butt lift is great in that it uses your own natural fat for the augmentation. It also has the added benefit of shaping you entire waist, thus transforming you from square to more of an hourglass figure.
Butt implants are a great option for patients that are too thin for fat transfer alone. If patients have a BMI less than 22 they will typically need implants or a combination of implants and fat transfer.
The combination of butt implants can give patients the best of both worlds. The can have the benefit of having their waist shaped from the liposuction, the projection of butt implants and then fat transferred to the hips area and around the implant to soften the feel of the butt implants.
With any surgery there is the risk of infection, bleeding and need for revision surgeries. The success of butt augmentation surgery is dependent on the experience of your plastic surgeon in the procedure.

I Have A Nice Butt, But Would Like to Know What Could I Do to Get A More Rounded Butt?
This is a very common question as patients may have a good posterior buttock, but have an indent or lack of fullness laterally in the hip area. When this is the case patients typically are not looking for a larger butt, just a more round full appearing buttock.
The Brazilian Butt Lift is the perfect procedure for this type of augmentation as the enhancement can be tailored to each patient. The procedure starts by sculpting the patient with liposuction. The fat that is harvested from the liposuction can then be processed so that only the best fat is used for the augmentation.
Once the fat has been processed it is now ready to be transferred to the buttock or hip area. The fat can be placed precisely in the areas that need enhancement. This can be the hip or lateral buttock area, the entire buttock or both depending on the individual needs. Also the amount that is transferred can be tailored to the aesthetic goals of each patient.
The Brazilian Butt Lift is a great procedure as it can be used to enhance the buttock or hips along with sculpting the waist.

I am Trying to Decide Between a Brazilian Butt Lift and Liposuction Alone to Improve my figure, What are the Advantages of Each?
This question is becoming more and more common as the Brazilian Butt Lift has gained popularity over the past several years. I typically get patients that are scheduled for a liposuction consult and then at the very end of the discussion they ask as about transferring some of the fat to their buttock rather than throwing it away!
Liposuctions alone can be a great tool for body sculpting especially for targeted areas. This can be used to remove the excess fat and shape the waist or back. Liposuction is great for removing the love handles around the waist or the rolls that are created under the bra strap. Removing the fat from these areas is what shapes the waist and contributes to improving the overall figure. One of the big benefits of liposuction alone is that the recovery is fast. Many patients will be back to work in several days with limited restrictions.
The added benefit of the Brazilian Butt Lift is the bonus shaping that you get after the liposculpting treatment is finished. The fat can be used to enhance your buttock and hips. Liposuction can only remove unwanted fat; it does nothing to enhance specific areas that might be deficient. The addition of fat in areas that we want along with the subtraction of it in the unwanted areas is what gives patients a phenomenal shape. This is because the combination improves the result of each individual procedure. The recovery after a Brazilian Butt Lift is a little more prolonged then if a patient only had liposuction. After a Brazilian Butt Lift I don’t let my patients sit for two weeks to protect the fat that has been transferred for their augmentation.
I would advise you to talk to your surgeon about the possibility of fat transfer if you have thought about it at all. Once patients have had liposuction it can be much more difficult to perform a large volume fat transfer procedure in the future as patients may not have enough fat. A Brazilian Butt Lift needs a significant amount of fat to give patients the hourglass figure that they desire.
